چکیده
Developing low-cost and high-performance biosorbent for water purification continues drawing more attention. In this study, cellulose-chitosan composite hydrogels were fabricated via a co-dissolution regeneration process using molten salt hydrate (a 60 wt% aqueous solution of LiBr) as solvent. The addition chitosan not only introduced functionality metal adsorption but also increased the specific surface area improved mechanical strength hydrogel, compared to pure cellulose hydrogel. Batch experiments indicated that hydrogel with 37% 63% exhibited an capacity 94.3 mg/g (1.49 mmol/g) toward Cu2+ at 23 °C, pH 5, initial concentration 1500 mg/L, which was 10 times greater than Competitive from mixed metals revealed selective in order > Zn2+ Co2+. This study successfully demonstrated innovative method fabricate biosorbents abundant renewable natural polymers (cellulose chitosan) removing ions water.

Adsorption of Heavy Metals by Graphene Oxide/Cellulose Hydrogel Prepared from NaOH/Urea Aqueous Solution
By taking advantage of cellulose, graphene oxide (GO), and the process for crosslinking using epichlorohydrin (ECH), we propose a simple and novel method to prepare GO/cellulose hydrogel with good potential to adsorb metal ions. GO nanosheets containing carboxyl and hydroxyl groups were introduced into the surface of the cellulose hydrogel with retention of the gel structure and its nanoporous ...
متن کاملUse of natural products as biosorbent of heavy metals ó An overview
Industrial effluents loaded with heavy metals are a cause of hazards to human and other forms of life. Conventional methods such as precipitation, evaporation, electroplating, ion exchange, membrane processes, etc. used for removal of heavy metals from waste water however, are often cost prohibitive having inadequate efficiencies at low metal ion concentrations. Biosorption can be considered as...

Ionic Liquids for the Dissolution and Regeneration of Cellulose.
Cellulose derivatives (Figure 1) have many important commercial applications in the fiber, paper, membrane, polymer and paints industries. However, there are only a limited number of common solvents in which cellulose is soluble; solvents include, carbon disulfide, N,Ndimethylacetamide/lithium chloride (DMAC/LiCl), concentrated inorganic salt (ZnCl/H2O, Ca(SCN)2/H2O) and mineral acids (H2SO4/H3...
متن کاملHeavy metals removal in aqueous environments using bark as a biosorbent
Tree bark is among the widely available and low-cost sorbents for metal adsorption in aqueous environments. A state-of-the-art review is compiled carrying out a comprehensive literature search on the biosorption of heavy metals in solution onto different bark species, including a characterization of bark structure and chemistry. The results indicate that biosorption has been gaining importance ...
